(I’ve had some things on my heart the last couple of weeks and was reminded of the posts you will see over the next few days. I have decided to republish a few of my previous posts from a couple of years ago. Hopefully, they will be beneficial to someone. I needed to read them again and figured I’d share. Here is the first…)
“Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder”
I grew up hearing that phrase.
What does it mean? It means that something that appears beautiful to one, may not be quite as pleasant to the eye of another.
I can safely say the same is true when it comes to photography. Some like natural, realistic images. Others like the surreal look of HDR and others the soft, painterly look of one that has been processed beyond the appearance of a photograph.
What you behold as beauty is what you should cast your eyes on. If the image you see does not appear beautiful to you, rather than state a negative opinion, cast your eyes elsewhere. No one forces you to look at things you don’t find appealing.
Is one better than the other? I’d say not! But YOU decide. As the old saying goes, “Beauty is the eye of the beholder.”
