School Days of Yesteryear – Murr

As I continue to share photos from our recent PhotoFrenzy on the “old schoolhouse trail” in rural Missouri, this is one of my favorites.

This is the old Murr one-room schoolhouse. It is in fairly good condition, considering. Although it is no longer used, it did appear to be holding someone’s junk (or someone’s treasure depending on how you look at it.)

I would credit the fact that it has not been vandalized, like so many others, to its location. Down an old, gravel and dirt road in the middle of nowhere.

What a find it was!

If you listen closely, you can almost hear the teacher calling in the children while standing in the doorway.

Have you ever noticed how many old one-room schoolhouses have a line of windows on the east side but not on the west? That is so the morning sun could shine in and light the old blackboard.

I’ll be back tomorrow with a few more shots of this old treasure! Please join me!
